The Year I Became Jesus

In 2004, I survived a supposed unknown illness that had taken me on a 7 year journey through the valley of death. That year was the apex. My body ravaged on the valley floor, I began the long and difficult climb out of the valley of death.

During the illness I unwaveringly contributed my biological samples to medical research, including my specifically requested DNA. When my DNA was requested I was told, “We are not going to be able to help you, but we think we can make medicine from your DNA that will help others. It seemed a weighty request from the researchers, at least in thier mind. And I suppose it was, even though I joked with my medical teams that it was a Christ like gift.

I was partially raised a Jehovah’s Witness. The one doctrine I always placed in my chart was no blood transfusions. And they were requesting my blood to make medicine for others. That is a step or two beyond not taking blood transfusions. DNA is the essence of a being.

I have to cut this letter to you short because I get to go to work this morning. I am very fortunate to have survived hospice.

I noted today an article where researchers found the antibodies of a survivor to be robust. And I want to share that article with you.

Sotrovimab, the newest antibody therapy, was developed by GlaxoSmithKline and Vir Biotechnology after a large collaborative study by scientists from across the nation discovered a natural antibody (in the blood of a SARS survivor, back in 2003) that has remarkable breadth and efficacy
